Happy new year. I really enjoyed your correspondence and update on all our old friends. No excuse that one of these day I'll send you my latest pictures (the scanner will be set up for this). It must be very cold in your area now. We've been very lucky so far this winter.
I've been keeping contact with Wu Chuan-fan in his restaurant and they're doing very well. I've very busy with my granddaughter on week days. Other than that I'm still the same old me.
Finally, please change my e-mail address to johnfong@comcast.net

Take care.

Dear Chi-Rong:
You forget I came from Hong-Kong, When I went to Taiwan, already 12 years old. I never learn "Zhuyin," that's why my "zhuyin" is terrible. Besides, did you notice my e-mail always used simple sentence and easy words? because I don't remember a lot of words. Bill always said my English is Chinese-English.
I read your and Taso's letter, Tsao really did some homework. I went to cruise twice, so I have some experience. There is different price in the same cruise, it depends on the room, we always read the books said the price from......, this price is the room at the bottom deck, at the middle line and no window. and then, at the deck with window but cannot open, with window can open, with a door can walk out (I forget the word), little suite, suite, different deck, the price are all different, last two times we stay at a little suite with a door can walk out, the price even not only double, but, beside the room, every thing is the same.
If we decide our reunion is go to cruise, the important thing is arrange everyone to eat supper at the same time and same table, because there is separate two time to eat supper, and everyone is same time, same table every day. Breakfast and lunch they didn't arrange, you can go whenever you want. Let's see what happen after Tsao come back.

I'm sorry my English is not good enough to explain the cruise, There is some misunderstanding, I don't mean the cheap room is sleep on the floor, these rooms still have everything, bed, closet, and bathroom, only no window and at the lower deck.
I try to explain in Chinese, but even the first word, your name....Chi, I try "Pinyin" and "Zhuyin," spent 10 minute, still can't find the right word, I give up now. Bill use "Pinyin" is a lot better then me, after he comes back at spring break, I'll try to practice again.

The new site is more friendly, and I enjoyed reading some files I could open. But I still get strange Chinese characters right on the home page, and could not opem most items under respective (presumably) names. For some sub-files (such as the one under TsaoTsao), none of the sub-subifiles could be opened. I do not know if it's my problem, and it's general.
In any case, thanks for your effort. I am not sure when and where I will meet some of you (DID meet Tu JK last July in HK). But it's certainly heart warming to know how you people look (like you who look pretty much unchanged) and the family and life now.

Dear GLS and friends,
GLS, thanks for your prompt reply. I'm glad you finally can enjoy some of the files in our sites.
Yes, there are pages displaying strange characters while open. What you can do is to click on "Chinese Traditional (Big5)" under "Encoding" of icon "View" to change the font to traditional Chinese characters. It's quite annoying and inconvenient but I have not found the answer to why some pages display proper Chinese right a way while some not. If any of our friends knows the answer to it, please share it with me!!!
As to open the sub-files, you should click on the page number (the sign of a little hand will show up when it is the right place) instead of names.
If it can make our web more user friendly, I can divide it into more sites. Please share your thoughts with me.
Now we're all waiting for Tsao-Tsao's North America Reunion plans. Hopefully, we will see each other in person very soon!
Best wishes to you all.

Dear Chi-Rong,
I know you've spent a lot of time working on the new website, and it looks great! When I first opened up the website, some of the characters were off, but when I let my son play with the settings, they were correct again. Your directions were very good!
I thought many classmates kept in touch, but how come we don't have any information or pictures from them? Hope that everyone gets a chance to update us on how they're doing.
I really appreciate the hard work you've put in the website. Let me know if they make any plans for a 35th reunion so I can make plans with my family for the summer.

Dear Grace,
Thank you so much for trying.
I'm so happy that you are coming to Toronto next summer! It has been too long since we saw each other last time...ii was only in junior kindergarten and now she is going to her 3rd year in university. It's about time for you coming back to Toronto again!
I have heard about the beauty of New Zealand. However, we don't have any out of North America travel plan in the near future. In fact, I have never left this continent since I landed on it 34 years ago. Can you believe that I only obtained my Canadian passport two years ago just because I needed it to enter the States after 911?! Before that, the Canadians did not need passport to go to the States. It shows how much the non-traveller I am. :-)
By the way, I'm very pleased to learn that your hands are getting better. Mine have completely cured after taking the evening primrose oil several years back. Only drawback is that I cannot stop taking it, otherwise the problem will act up again.
Oh, I can hardly wait to see you again. Will your family accompany you on the trip? I have been hearing about them so much, it will be wonderful if I can meet them in person.
Please send me some of your recent family photos, especially the ones with New Zealand as background!

I had a great time in Taiwan. The best part was the food! I ate at a lot of places I used to visit, but the food wasn't as good as I remember. I think the food in Toronto is better! Maybe because there's more Cantonese food there.

Hi, Chi-Rong, Tony, and Family:
It was wonderful to hear from you. I hope that all is well with you.
The year of 2004 was a bit difficult for me. This time last year, my 45-year old cousin died of a massive stroke. I was so busy handling his funeral that I did not respond to any greeting cards at all. This year, I am determined to reestablish contacts with all my friends.
As several of my other relatives also experienced major illness-related events, I realized that I need to be better prepared for dealing with such matters.
On the other hand, I finally got a 5-year competing renewal application for my Japanese project funded last August. My daughter, Jessica, is 21 now and is
an exchange student at the University of Tokyo right now. My son, Nathan, is 11 years old and loves to play computer games. Ling and I are doing all right
but are aging like everyone else.
This year I have traveled a little bit more than usual. I was in Japan, Taiwan, and Chinese mainland
for 5 weeks last summer, and I just came back from Kaohsiung a few days ago. The weather was great there, and I am not sure about the freezing cold here
in Michigan.
How are things in Toronto? Hopefully, you will come to Ann Arbor sometime in the near future. It would be a lot of fun to get together.
Best wishes for a relaxed holiday break and a productive new year,
Jersey with Ling, Jessica, and Nathan
